About Me
My love of music began at age nine in Ricky Bledsoe’s tree house. He had a small radio and I heard a song called “Green Eyed Lady” by a band called Sugarloaf. I was amazed at the timing any lyrics. Prior to this, my exposure to music was church songs and hymns. This was something different. It was Rock & Roll. A genre my mother assured me would lead me down a dark path. Later I would find that there was a direct line from Gospel to Rock and Roll. I was just too young to make that association. I will fast forward to my internship at a local contemporary Christian radio station. There I learned to operate a mixing board and sharpened my microphone skills. Years on the debating team in high school gave me an advantage when it came to prepared verbal communication. Radio was fun and I acquired a small and deeply disturbed following. I soon learned that advancement in radio required relocation.
With the birth of my first child, I decided that roots were more important than dreams. In the late 90’s I joined a mobile D J. service called Complete Music. They primarily did wedding receptions although there were a variety of private and company functions. I would go from a four star wedding in the finest downtown hotel, to an outdoor company fish fry and picnic the following week. Out of a staff of 15, I became the top D.J. That honor came with awards, the top paying events, and the need to lead and train those in the organization. This worked wonders for my pocket book as well as my ego. Being the named the top mobile D.J. in Austin and San Antonio five times over a 10 year period is both rewarding and time consuming.
